Scientific calculator
Calculate powers, roots, logarithms and trigonometric functions.
Solve expressions with powers, roots, logarithms and trigonometric functions. Choose degrees or radians, use π and e, and combine functions with parentheses and arithmetic. Calculations run in your browser without registration.
Use DEG for degrees and RAD for radians. Close function parentheses.

Degrees, radians and inverse functions
DEG interprets angles in degrees: sin(30) = 0.5 and cos(60) = 0.5. RAD interprets them in radians: sin(pi/6) = 0.5. The asin, acos and atan functions return angles in the selected unit.
Changing DEG/RAD invalidates the current result: press Calculate or Enter to recalculate. History shows the mode used for each expression. Tangent at 90° and equivalent angles is undefined.
Powers, roots, logarithms and factorials
Use ^ for powers, sqrt for square roots and cbrt for cube roots. Examples: 2^3 = 8, sqrt(81) = 9 and cbrt(-8) = -2. Powers associate to the right: 2^3^2 = 512. An outer minus applies after the power: -2^2 = -4, while (-2)^2 = 4.
log is base 10 and ln is the natural logarithm: log(100) = 2 and ln(e) = 1. Factorial ! accepts integers from 0 to 170, with 0! = 1 and 5! = 120. Functions operate over real numbers; negative square roots and logarithms of nonpositive numbers display an error.
Percentages, precision and privacy
In the scientific calculator, % always means division by 100: 200 × 15% = 30 and 200 + 15% = 200.15. For a 15% increase use 200 × (1 + 15%) = 230. Use the basic calculator for relative percentage behavior. Implicit multiplication is supported: 2π and 2(3+4).
Use a dot or comma as the decimal separator without thousands separators. Expressions can contain 240 characters; results are rounded to 14 significant digits using browser numeric arithmetic, without symbolic calculations or complex numbers. History holds eight expressions in page memory and disappears on reload. This calculator does not send expressions or results to the server.
Frequently asked questions
How do I choose DEG or RAD?
Use DEG for angles in degrees, such as sin(30). Use RAD for radians, such as sin(pi/6). After switching modes, press Calculate again.
Why do log(-1) and sqrt(-9) produce an error?
These operations do not have a result over the real numbers supported by this calculator. For a negative cube root, cbrt(-8) returns -2.
Do percentages work like the basic calculator?
The scientific calculator treats % as a fraction: 15% is 0.15 even in addition. For an increase or discount, multiply the base by (1 + 15%) or (1 - 15%). The basic calculator instead applies the percentage to the value on the left of + or −.
Is there a factorial limit?
Yes. Only integers from 0 to 170 are supported. Negative, fractional or larger values produce an error.
