Mode calculator
Find the statistical mode, its frequency and every tied mode in a number list. Free, without an account.
Separate observations with whitespace, semicolons or newlines. Repeat each number as often as it occurs in the dataset.
Result
Enter your data and run the tool. Your result will appear here.
The values you enter stay on this page. Reloading or closing it clears them.

How to use this calculator
Separate observations with whitespace, semicolons or newlines. Repeat each number as often as it occurs in the dataset.
Formula and method
The mode is the value with the highest absolute frequency. Tied values are all reported in ascending order.
Worked example
For 2; 2; 3; 4; 4, the modes are 2 and 4, each occurring twice.
Limits and interpretation
If every observation occurs once, ∅ means no repeated mode. Equivalent numbers such as 2 and 2.0 share a frequency. Limit: 10,000 observations.
Frequently asked questions
How should I interpret the result?
For 2; 2; 3; 4; 4, the modes are 2 and 4, each occurring twice.
What inputs and assumptions are required?
If every observation occurs once, ∅ means no repeated mode. Equivalent numbers such as 2 and 2.0 share a frequency. Limit: 10,000 observations.
