Find gross salary from net pay

Select net to gross to estimate the gross annual salary, known as RAL in Italy. A €2,000 monthly net average over 13 payments means a €26,000 annual net target.

Net income has jumps at benefit thresholds. The calculator checks separate income bands, shows the lowest compatible gross amount and lists other solutions. If the target cannot be matched, it shows the actual difference.

Italian income tax, contributions and bonuses

Italian IRPEF rates for 2026 are 23% up to €28,000, 33% between €28,000 and €50,000 and 43% above €50,000. The tax base is gross pay less employee contributions. Article 13 deduction ratios are truncated to four decimal places.

The model includes the tax-wedge cash benefit and extra deduction introduced from 2025. It includes the €1,200 integration benefit up to €15,000 taxable income when gross tax exceeds €1,880. Conditional integration benefits above €15,000 are excluded.

Example: €30,000 gross annual salary

With €30,000 gross pay, 9.19% contributions and illustrative local rates of 1.23% and 0.80%, contributions are €2,757, taxable income €27,243 and net IRPEF €3,221.63. Estimated annual net pay is €23,468.34, averaging €1,805.26 over 13 payments.

Assumptions, local taxes and limits

The 9.19% contribution rate is an editable assumption: check your actual employee rate. An additional 1% applies above €56,224 gross pay. The €120,000 salary limit stays below the 2026 contribution ceiling; special contribution schemes are excluded.

Initial local rates are examples, not nationwide rates. Enter effective average regional and municipal rates and inclusive exemption thresholds. Above a threshold, the whole tax base is taxed. Local progressive brackets are not reconstructed. No local taxes apply if net IRPEF is zero.

The model assumes full-year ordinary Italian employment only, without dependants, other income, personal expenses, preferential bonuses, severance pay or contribution exemptions. Monthly figures are annual averages and do not reproduce actual payslips. Seek professional advice for contractual or tax decisions.

Frequently asked questions

Can I enter the net pay on one payslip?

Use your annual monthly average instead. One payslip can contain refunds, adjustments or deductions that do not recur over every payment.

Does the English interface use UK or US tax rules?

No. Every interface language uses Italian tax rules for 2026, with the stated assumptions.

Why are local taxes adjustable?

Italian regions and municipalities have different rates, progressive bands and exemptions. The initial rates are illustrative; an effective average remains an estimate.
