    Method and quality

MP3 uses lossy constant-bitrate compression. WAV stores uncompressed PCM; FLAC compresses without loss. Descriptive metadata and cover art are not copied.

    Practical example

Convert a stereo WAV to 192 kbit/s MP3 for a smaller file, or FLAC to retain the decoded signal without loss.

    Formats and limits

One file up to 500 MB and 2 hours. Output up to 500 MB; oversized PCM is rejected before conversion. Converting MP3 to FLAC does not recover quality. MP3 output is limited to 48 kHz.
